WriteAbout Us

Bone-iTo began with the meeting of two artists who shared a common vision: to create through craftsmanship, compassion, and our shared humanity.

In 2022, Frank Díaz, an artist based in Chicago since 2000, and Alma Becerra, who had recently made the city her new home, brought together their personal and creative journeys. Their first collaboration became more than a single artwork—it became the foundation of a philosophy.

Bone-iTo is a soft sculpture of the human skeleton, handcrafted using traditional linoleum block printing on canvas. Its name combines two languages: "Bone," representing our common human structure, and the Mexican suffix "-ito," a term of affection that conveys warmth and closeness.

Bone-iTo is a simple yet meaningful reminder that beneath our differences, we all share the same foundation. We are all human.

Today, Bone-iTo has grown into a family of artists. As parents of five creative teenagers, we believe that art is not only something we make—it is the way we live. Our studio is also our family space, where every project reflects collaboration, patience, and respect for the creative process. The rhythms of handcrafted work—from carving and printing to sculpting, painting, assembling, and finishing—have shaped not only our practice but also our values.

What We Do

Our work spans a wide range of artistic disciplines, including:

  • Monumental and sculptural fabrication

  • Scenic and theatrical design

  • Wood, stone, and metal carving

  • Murals and decorative painting

  • Printmaking

  • Textile and mixed-media techniques

  • Custom artistic installations

While we bring decades of technical experience to every project, our greatest strength is guiding creative processes that inspire, connect, and transform.

Every piece we create is made with intention, craftsmanship, and the belief that meaningful art has the power to bring people together. your text here...
